I use exclusively California Filament PETG to build the world's most advanced astronomical binoculars. It's strong, prints flawlessly at high speed in modern printers, has good coefficient of thermal expansion for use in cold weather (some PETG shrinks a whole lot in the cold!), and comes in great colors. Black is of course the most important filament for what I'm doing! Some of my customers want matte and CF's matte black is by far the best-printing option out there.

Just started printing with this filament. I really love how things are turning out so far with my prints.

I needed a filament stronger than PLA and decided to switch to PETG. This filament has performed flawlessly. I have now used 2 rolls and no problems! I will definitely continue to use.

Great price and fabulous quality... If you dial in the printer settings. After drying a spool, I had to lower the temperature or it would just not print well. Glad I found that out!

I ordered three rolls of PETG (in black, beige, and fuschia) and so far have only had time to test the black. It's generally about as good a PETG filament as you're going to find, but you have to accept that you're probably only going to be able to print it in a very narrow band of temperatures and that you're going to have to make a few calibration "test tower" kinds of prints to find the sweet spot. For my own printer, that was a 253C-258C extruder temperature with a 90C bed for the first layer and 85C on the bed for the rest of them. I also found things worked better (at least on the larger prints) with a 0.6mm nozzle. (I usually print PLA at 0.4mm.) The resulting prints are strong and don't tend to warp. And I would have given the filament five stars if there weren't quite so much stringing at the optimal temperature. It's also worth noting that it pays to be careful in use of supports, since unlike supports for PLA, PETG supports can be very hard to remove since the material is so strong to start with. I use "tree" supports wherever I can. The attached photos show the base and lid for an enclosure for the Manta M8P controller board I've retrofitted to my Ender 3 printer. The base turned out strong, even if it's not as cosmetically clean as a PLA print would be. No matter, since it's more important to me that the box has good resistance to heat since it will live right below the printer bed (which is heated). This was not the place to use PLA. The lid is a work in progress, since I may have to increase the thickness of the part and fiddle with its orientation and support when printed. The surface in the photos is rough, but I think I can get most (but not all) of that out of a PETG print with a modified design and a few tweaks in the slicer. This is not the first time I've printed with California Filament PETG black, and I made a few far less complex parts for my motorcycle (such as a sleeve for a gauge and a bump stop for the kickstart lever). Those have been going down the road just fine and haven't suffered from being mounted about six inches from a motorcycle exhaust pipe. Eventually, I will likely print a few gauge housings for my experimental aircraft with this filament as well, since it's strong and lightweight. And since the housing will live mostly behind the instrument panel where nobody sees it, it doesn't have to be that cosmetically nice. The part of the gauge that's visible will probably be turned on my lathe from brass stock. But machining the entire housing from metal is far more work than printing PETG.

Easy to print with the default Prusa Slicer settings. No stringing or warping problems and overhangs and bridges print great! Comes out looking perfect with PLA supports too.

Worked really well. No issues at all. I usually print with PLA so I was surprised when I couldn't smell anything from this PETG! Is that normal for all PETG brands? The only knock: I ordered black and almond colors. Black came with a plastic spool, my preference, and I was surprised to get the other on card board.

Excellent material, after you dry it. I highly recommend drying all filament and this is no exception. Prints smooth and is dimensionally accurate.

My business is 100% PETG oriented so I'm picky. Printing end-use parts with a lot of technical details, and printing consistently is a challenge for a lot of PETG filaments. This black passes a lot of tests like sticking to the bed, staying flat, dimensional accuracy, good bridging, lack of stringing, layer bonding, not shrinking a bunch in the cold, good flexibility, good surface quality, cardboard spools, and price. I've printed... dozens of copolymers and this is top-tier stuff.

Been using California Filament PETG as my "go-to" filament lately -- it is usually ready to go straight out of the vacuum wrap and seems to be fairly resistant to picking up ambient humidity. It prints very well -- lays down smooth and has very little stringing -- and the price is very reasonable -- so I rarely use PLA anymore. Been using the Black PETG on my Ender 3 Pro, 70C/230C to make various airgun parts and other knick-knacks. I've had similar success with their other colors as well. Pictured are a custom designed fiber optic front sight for a Crosman 2240 CO2 pellet pistol and a clever bathroom TP Sheep.
