Matte Red is one of the four colors we offer with a matte finish. The matte filament is definitely more finicky to print than our normal colors. It requires a lower print temperature than our normal PETG. We wrote a post about printing with our matte filament on the Community Forum.

The other four colors we offer in matte are the Paper White, Matte Blue, Matte Red, and Matte Olive Green.

California Filament offers three different shades of red - Candy Red, Matte Red, and Translucent Red.

Works well for battery holders. Also have Milwaukee batteries, this filament matches well.

Great filament with a very nice, matte finish. This is an AirDown duct kit that I designed and sell for PWC. The filament has above acceptable strength and accuracy and holds threads well. It is important to dry the filament before use. I do this with all filament, not just California Filament.

I was really disappointed at first with this filament. It printed awful at all temps and speeds and the color was closer to salmon than redand the color changed depending on the length of time per layer. Shorter layers were closer to red and longer ones were the salmon color. Stringing was bad and the dimensional accuracy was way off. ...and then I dried it for 7 hours at 68c. Wow what a difference! I've never seen a filament transform after drying like this even CF Nylon. Look at the difference in the cubes. The one on the right is before drying and the one on the left is after drying. It's actually a beautiful red now and the surface finish is very good with almost no stringing. The other picture is all my previous attempts before drying to get it to turn out a decent print. I had to reduce the extrusion multiplier to .91 to get it to print dimensionally accurate but now that it's tuned in I think it's gonna be alright. I have black and blue to try as well and will leave reviews once I test them.

It prints ok, but the color is not consistent. It started off more pale red and then became slightly deeper red. I’ve never seen that in a Filament outside of rainbow and multicolored Filament. Otherwise, the Filament is ok.

used the recommended 240 C print temps and didn't have any real issues with printing. This stuff is a bit different than California Filaments usual stuff so settings may have to be tweaked related to speeds and layer heights. I am a huge fan of the surface finish this filament gives and def hope they release more matte color offerings in the future!

I'm liking this filament a lot. I decided to use California Filament 's matte red, white, and black rolls to print Kenny Smith's 32 day clock and it's looking great so far!

Matte Red PETG Filament 1.75mm

I have gone thru 8 spools of matte black, 1 spool of matte red, and 1 spool of matte blue. Zero problems with any of that. This last batch of 1 spool of each: matte black, matte blue, matte red, and matte olive green was quite different. All had terrible prints and terrible stringing. I read a review from Ryan L from 4/30/2023 and he had the same problem. He said that he placed them in a filament dryer at 68C for 7 hours helped. I put all 4 in a filament dryer at 70C for 12 hours and printing now is perfect with ZERO stringing.

This is always my go to filament when I need to print red. It actually looks red and not pink like some others do.

Matte Red PETG Filament 1.75mm

Color is a little weird, closer to salmon than red I’d say, top of prints look weird, almost though they’ve got stress whitening, otherwise it’s decent.

Awesome filament. Probably our favorite so far. Just ordered more, we ran out, lol. Definitely our goto place for PetG filament.

Matte Red PETG Filament 1.75mm

Prints well, pre-dried, and delivered quickly. I need to dial in the temp settings to get it a little cleaner, but i am lazy and needed something to match my milwaukee stuff quick and this did the job with default PETG profile.

Matte Red PETG Filament 1.75mm

Not a fan of this one, I use a lot of California filament but this one I don't like. It could be a print setting issue but I bought this a curiosity so I didn't spend much time looking into it. Everything I printed was really stringy, and the filament even after drying popped and sizzled. I'll use it for prototypes but nothing for a customer.
